Once Upon a Time…
…In a Far and Away Place.
I was born in Greece. Athens was a great place for a child to grow up. I was born into amazing loving, caring parents who struggled with their own cultural imprints and societal conditioning.
My dad was an amazing man with a beautiful mind. He raced Italian cars, built strong wooden boats and drove me and my sister real fast the mornings we missed the school bus. That rarely happened because my sister would wet her pants. I, on the other hand Loved It!
My dad in my eyes was successful. He had a fun exciting life, kept very busy, knew a lot of people and was very lonely. I inherited my passion for life, cars, boats, and curiosity from my dad. He passed when I was 16.
My mom brought us up devoting her life to the success of her family. I inherited my passion for books, knowledge, the theater, and the opera from my mother. Mom’s magic was to make home feel like a real home, warm, bright and nurturing. I, for the most part, sensed a sadness in her eyes and a longing in her words for a dream of being a doctor that never came through.
My little sister painted art like Michael Angelo while car racing was never a priority in her life. Her husband, however, did race fast cars in USA.
As for myself, while in a 10-year brace treatment for Scoliosis, I read and read anything I could lay my hands on except for some of the school books. I was fascinated by life, the world and the people on it. I read philosophy and psychology on my quest to learn as much as I could about my two passions: Life and People.
When dad passed, attending psychology school abroad became a dream on hold. Still, life in London was great where I excelled in sales in the corporate sector. When I moved to New York, some years later, my passion for reading came back strong. I studied technology receiving a degree and becoming a Microsoft certified systems engineer in just under two years while a single mom.
