Today I’m back with more on the subject of adversity. It seems to be a hot topic these days as we’re experiencing change in so many different areas through the COVID circumstances.
The truth is that as humans we were built to survive, even in the most difficult conditions and situations. Load stress helps muscles grow after a good workout at the gym. Your body repairs and restores itself while you sleep, and you wake up stronger than you were before.
Your body builds itself back up when it’s been damaged. So, you can start recognizing that adversity is essentially a form of exercise. You might get knocked down, but as long as you get back up again, you can get through it.
Like any good exercise, adversity may leave you with aches and pains, but you become stronger for it. No one wants to experience hardship, but adversity can help you grow as a person. You can use it to your advantage.
The thing is, you can’t just go looking for it, adversity always finds you. You can’t control when or whether you get laid off, miss out on a promotion, or your partner leaves. None of us are safe from adversity, but you can use it to come back stronger and better.
What is it that makes some people more likely to bounce back from adversity?
It is Resilience. Being resilient means finding the courage to bounce back and take risks despite setbacks. You can build resilience in the face of adversity or do it proactively. Mastering the skill of resilience is what will see you through the most difficult times of your life. It is an essential key to your happiness and success.
